The jojoba plant and the connection to sustainability

We live in an age where the human population is growing at a dizzying rate, the human population is consuming the natural resources that are running out and tremendous environmental damage is occurring every day at every point on the planet.

These processes require us to ask ourselves one simple question – “Is this the Earth I want to leave to my children and grandchildren?”

These processes require us to provide real, green solutions that bring tremendous benefit to the world without depleting its natural resources.

The jojoba plant is a great example of a green solution that practically realizes the aspiration to preserve the earth’s resources for future generations.

The jojoba plant is a cosmetic product with many virtues in everything related to the human skin. The jojoba oil is a high-quality cosmetic substitute for needs that previously used whale oil to obtain them. The switch to jojoba oil almost completely stopped whaling in the world.

The jojoba plant is a desert plant, the jojoba fields are a “green lung” in the arid space and encourage plant activity in the heart of the desert.

The jojoba plant consumes very little water relative to other crops and can live on “settled” water. In fact, all the jojoba fields of Kibbutz Hatzer are irrigated with treated wastewater and thus the water is reused in order to preserve this precious resource.

The combination of the jojoba plant with the “Natafim” factory in Kibbutz Hatzerim created a drip-irrigated jojoba plantation that lies in the ground and is adapted to the mechanization developed especially for the jojoba fields. The use of a drip irrigation system saves a large amount of water every year.

The jojoba oil is not tested on animals and no animal products are used in the production process at the oil factory.

A large solar field was established near the kibbutz, which is used to generate energy and electricity from sunlight. The combination of clean energy production and the surrounding jojoba fields created a green and ecological gem in the heart of the desert.
